The immune response mounted against past and ongoing infection can leave traces in our bloodstream, such as antibodies. Serological assays can dose the presence of these antibodies specific to a specific parasite species or even genotype. We used these assays in the context of our PAPCLEAR study to monitor the immune response. Thanks to a collaboration with CERBA laboratories and French public hospital virology departments, we can anlyse a database of serological assays against human herpesviruses.
We develop statistical epidemiology models to analyse the past spread and current prevalence of 8 main human herpesviruses in France. This raises statistical hurdles associated with the spaital and temporal structure of the data.
